Senator Katung Launches Project 365 to Combat Hepatitis

Senator Sundai Marshal Katung unveiled ‘Project 365’ on April 13, 2023, in Kafanchan, aimed at tackling hepatitis in Southern Kaduna. The initiative, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, is designed to expand access to screening, diagnosis, treatment, and vaccination services for approximately 620,000 residents.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Hadiza Sabuwa Balarab, emphasized the importance of the initiative in aligning with ongoing health sector reforms in the state. Balarab noted that viral hepatitis poses a serious health threat, often going undetected until advanced stages, leading to severe liver complications.

The project will cover eight local government areas in the Kaduna South Senatorial District, including Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Jema, Sanga, Kagarko, Jaba, Kachia, and Kauru. The program is scheduled to run from April 13 to May 29, 2026, across primary healthcare centers, with a focus on community engagement and awareness campaigns.
