Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Selects New Running Mate for 2027

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced on Sunday that Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Augie will be the new running mate for Governor Nasir Idris in the 2027 governorship election. This decision was revealed by APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, during a thank-you visit from Argungu Emirate stakeholders to the governor at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.

The change was made following professional legal advice concerning the eligibility of the current Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida Arugungu, to continue as the governor’s running mate. Suleiman emphasized that the decision was made with the understanding and consent of Senator Arugungu, indicating no disagreement between the governor and his deputy.

Governor Nasir Idris reassured party members of his commitment to work with Augie, who previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Kebbi State under former Governor Atiku Bagudu and hails from Augie Local Government Area.
