Kebbi ADC Faction Rejects Malami's Backed Congress

The Kebbi State faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly rejected a congress held on Saturday, which was backed by former Attorney General Abubakar Malami. In a statement issued on Sunday, faction spokesperson Adamu Aliyu described the congress as illegal and a violation of an existing court order. The faction claims that the congress was conducted by a rival group loyal to Malami and lacks legal backing, as it was not recognized by the ADC's executive in Kebbi. Aliyu emphasized that the congress violated a valid court order that had previously restrained the faction led by Sufiyanu Bala from taking any actions on behalf of the party. He asserted that no legitimate congress took place on Saturday and that Abdulrazaq Iko remains the authentic state chairman recognized by the court. The faction is awaiting the outcome of ongoing legal proceedings to conduct a legitimate congress and has urged party members to remain calm and abide by the law.
