Kebbi ADC Challenges Chairman's Trial, Seeks NJC Intervention

The Kebbi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns regarding the trial of its state chairman, Sufiyanu Bala, which is currently ongoing at Chief Magistrate Court 1 in Birnin Kebbi. Bala faces allegations of contempt of court and incitement to the public.

Abubakar Bawa Kalgo, the party's faction leader, made an appeal during a press conference, highlighting what they describe as irregular legal proceedings against Bala. The trial has seen multiple attempts to arraign him, with dates set for April 20 and April 24, but these were marred by procedural irregularities.

Despite a parallel matter in the high court, the magistrate court has insisted on proceeding with the case. The ADC has indicated that this situation is part of a broader pattern of persecution against its members, with several individuals facing similar issues.

The party intends to formally petition several bodies, including the National Judicial Council and the Kebbi State Judiciary Service Commission, urging them to uphold the rule of law and ensure fairness in the judicial process.
