Kebbi ADC Calls for Probe into Alleged Member Detentions

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi state has urged the Nigerian Police Force and Amnesty International to investigate the alleged illegal detention of its members. The Kebbi ADC Caucus in the National Assembly, represented by Sen. Garba Maidoki (Kebbi-South), and the party's state executive council, led by chairman Safiyanu Bala, addressed journalists in Abuja.

Maidoki expressed concerns about due process in police actions and emphasized that political affiliation should not influence legal proceedings. He stated that while the ADC does not exempt its members from the law, political differences should not lead to unlawful detentions.

The senator announced plans to submit a formal complaint regarding police conduct to the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police, urging an examination of potential political interference and improper conduct by officers. Maidoki reiterated the ADC's demand for an end to arrests aimed at intimidating citizens based on political affiliation.
