ADC Demands Probe into Alleged Voter Intimidation in Kebbi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged an investigation into alleged threats made by Alhaji Atiku Kalcha, the Chairman of Gwandu Local Government Area, against voters in Kebbi State. In a statement released on Thursday by the party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary, Engr. Abubakar Atiku Musa, the ADC accused Kalcha of intimidating residents who did not support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate at polling units.

The ADC emphasized the need for an impartial investigation to determine the validity of these allegations, stating that if confirmed, such threats would undermine electoral freedom and public peace. The party has called upon the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to investigate the claims and take necessary actions if any threats or plans to incite violence are found.

Additionally, the ADC urged security agencies to enhance measures to protect voters and prevent intimidation ahead of the 2027 elections. The party also referenced a previous attack on its governorship candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, and called for a peaceful political environment in Kebbi State.
