Kebbi Governor Distributes Farm Inputs for Food Security

On a recent date, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris launched a distribution exercise of farm inputs, including power tillers and solar pump machines, aimed at boosting dry season farming for 2026. The event took place in Kauran Gwandu as part of the agricultural development agenda and featured the launch of Ramadan palliatives to support residents.

Governor Idris emphasized the initiative's goal to empower farmers and improve agricultural productivity, thereby strengthening food security in Kebbi State and across Nigeria. Last year, rice production in the state increased to 3.5 million tons, with a target of 3.8 million tons for the current year.

The administration had previously distributed fertilizers worth N3 billion free of charge to farmers to enhance output. The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, attended the event, which highlighted Kebbi's status as an agricultural hub.

Shehu Muazu, the state commissioner for agriculture, praised the distribution of modern farming equipment, while Yusuf Gabi Argungu, chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, commended the governor's commitment to agricultural reform.
