Kebbi Governor Launches 2026 Hajj, Urges Pilgrims' Conduct

On Saturday, Governor Nasir Idri of Kebbi State officially flagged off the 2026 Hajj exercise, encouraging intending pilgrims to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria during their pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. The send-off ceremony was held at the premises of the Kebbi State Pilgrim Welfare Board in Birnin Kebbi.

In a statement made available by his Chief Press Secretary, Idri emphasized the spiritual significance of the journey and urged pilgrims to focus on worship throughout their time in the holy land. He reminded them of their role as representatives of Nigeria and called for prayers for peace and an end to insecurity in the country.

Idri also noted that his administration would continue to support pilgrims by alleviating financial burdens, including payment for hadaya, feeding arrangements, and transportation to holy sites. Musa Enabo, the chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrim Welfare Board, commended the governor for his support, while Ahm Jafaru Jega, the 2026 Amirul Hajj, expressed confidence in the success of this year's pilgrimage.

The first flight is set to depart on May 3, carrying 428 pilgrims from four local government areas.
