Kebbi Governor Appoints Jafar Jega Amirul Hajj 2026

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has appointed Alhaji Jafar Jega, the former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, as Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage. This appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Tafida, on Friday.

Jega will lead a 19-member government delegation tasked with overseeing and coordinating Hajj operations for Kebbi State. The committee's mandate includes ensuring a seamless plan and execution of the pilgrimage, safeguarding the welfare of pilgrims, and maintaining effective coordination with relevant agencies.

The delegation is expected to ensure compliance with agreements involving the state pilgrim welfare agency and the National Hajj Commission. Notable members of the delegation include former Deputy Senate Leader Bala Ibn Na'Allah, Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia, and other prominent figures.

The committee aims to draw on the experience of officials and religious leaders to facilitate a smooth Hajj exercise.
