Violence During Eid in Kebbi Claims Three Lives

On Monday, during the Eid el-Fitr celebrations in Alwasa, Argungu Local Government Area, Kebbi, violent clashes resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The conflict began when two Fulani youths performed stunt riding on motorcycles, which upset local residents.

An altercation ensued, leading to one of the youths stabbing an innocent passerby. Despite police intervention, the situation escalated, resulting in retaliatory attacks on Fulani settlements, where two youths were killed.

Governor Nasir Idris visited the community to express condolences and emphasized the need for peace, stating that the law must prevail and urging the Fulani community to remain calm. He announced a donation of N2 million to support the families of the deceased.

The district head, Alhaji Sama Ila Muhammad Mera, condemned the violence, describing it as alien to the community's peaceful nature.
