Communal Clash in Kebbi Leaves Three Dead

A violent clash in Alwasa, Argungu, Kebbi State, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, stemming from a confrontation between Hausa and Fulani youths. The conflict began when Fulani youths engaged in motorcycle stunts, which drew disapproval from local Hausa youths.

Following an alleged stabbing of a Hausa resident, the situation escalated, leading to reprisals against Fulani residents in a nearby settlement, resulting in two deaths unrelated to the initial incident. Governor Nasir Idris visited the area and condemned the violence, urging both communities to remain calm and avoid further reprisals.

He warned against individuals or groups taking the law into their own hands and called on community leaders and traditional rulers to intensify peace-building efforts. Governor Idris also directed security agencies to intensify investigations to apprehend those responsible for the violence and ensure the safe return of displaced residents.
