Kebbi Lawmaker Defects to APC Over PDP Crisis

Mohammed, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza federal constituency, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement made on Tuesday, he attributed his decision to persistent leadership crises and internal conflicts within the PDP, which he believes have weakened the party's ability to function effectively as a political platform.

He noted that the ongoing disputes and unresolved leadership challenges, coupled with ongoing litigation, have undermined the party's credibility and made it increasingly difficult for committed members to contribute meaningfully to the party's growth. Mohammed disclosed that he had consulted extensively with political stakeholders in his constituency before making the decision to defect, which he believes will enhance his capacity to deliver effective representation.

He confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to the PDP ward chairman of Nasarawa 1 ward and formally notified the Speaker of the House of Representatives of his defection.
