Police Clash with Bandits in Kebbi: 10 Officers Killed

On August 10, 2026, at approximately 09:25 hours, the Kebbi State Police Command engaged a heavily armed group of suspected bandits in a gun duel along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area, between Zamfara and Kebbi states. During the encounter, at least 17 suspected bandits were neutralized, and four motorcycles belonging to the attackers were destroyed.

Tragically, the police lost 10 personnel, with two others sustaining injuries and receiving medical attention. Additionally, two civilians were killed in the gun battle.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, stated that the fallen officers displayed exceptional courage and professionalism, making the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the people and the state. The police are prioritizing support for the affected families and continuing follow-up operations against fleeing bandits.
