Malami Returns to Kebbi After 123 Days, Sparks Political Buzz

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, made a dramatic return to Kebbi on Friday after spending 123 days outside the state. His arrival drew a massive crowd, reigniting political discussions in anticipation of the 2027 elections.

Thousands of supporters welcomed him at major entry points into Birnin Kebbi, waving banners and flags of the African Democratic Congress. Eyewitnesses described the reception as one of the largest political gatherings in recent years, with local trader Sani Abdullahi noting that people shut down businesses just to catch a glimpse of Malami.

Despite his absence due to ongoing investigations into financial crimes, which led to his detention in Abuja, Malami's support base appeared strong. Political analyst Musa Rilwan indicated that this event places Malami back at the center of political discussions for the upcoming elections.

However, members of the ruling party dismissed the turnout as overstated, emphasizing that crowd size does not guarantee electoral success.
