Kebbi State Trains 5,000 Women in Skills Acquisition

Kebbi State has successfully trained 5,000 women in skills acquisition as part of a program aimed at fostering self-reliance. The initiative was announced by Halima Hassan Kamba, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, during a briefing in Birnin Kebbi.

The program, which includes the provision of starter kits and tools, is part of a memorandum of understanding signed with the World Bank under the Nigerian Women Project, which aims to benefit 150,000 women. The training is designed to empower women across five local government areas, with 120 women reportedly earning a monthly income from the skills they acquired.

Additionally, the administration of Governor Nasir Idris has conducted annual mass weddings, uniting 300 couples twice over the last two years, totaling 1,200 brides and grooms. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to assist less privileged members of society and reduce societal barriers related to marriage.
