Kwara State Trains 50 in Beekeeping for Economic Growth

The Kwara State government has successfully trained 50 individuals in beekeeping, comprising 20 women and 30 youths, as part of the recently launched Kwara Livestock Entrepreneurship Scheme. Omolara Adeley, the Assistant Press Secretary to the Ministry of Livestock Development, announced this initiative on Thursday.

The training aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in apiculture, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural ventures. Oloruntoyosi Thoma, representing the Permanent Secretary Yahaya Moham, emphasized the importance of beekeeping as a viable income-generating opportunity that can strengthen the livestock value chain and enhance food security in the state.

The program reflects the ministry's commitment to inclusivity, empowering both youth and women in livestock commercialization. The training included hands-on experiences and insights into modern apiculture practices, facilitated by professionals in the field.

Dr. Ayo Ajisefini commended the initiative, highlighting the economic potential of beekeeping in Nigeria.
