Governor Agbu Kefas Named Consensus Candidate for 2027

Governor Agbu Kefas has been endorsed as the consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Taraba State by the Stakeholders Progress Congress (APC). This decision was reached during a stakeholders meeting held on Saturday in Jalingo, the state capital.

However, the consensus arrangement has faced criticism, particularly from aspirant Chief David Kent, who has rejected the process. Kent, along with other aspirants, including former ministers Sale Mamman and Muazu Jaji, purchased nomination forms but did not attend the meeting.

Aaron Artima, the APC state public secretary, confirmed the endorsement and stated that the meeting aimed to resolve candidacy positions, either through direct primaries or a consensus basis as recommended by the committee engaging aspirants across the zones. Ben Adaji, a media consultant for Kent, indicated that the meeting was convened by the governor rather than the party's leadership, leading to claims that aspirants were not adequately invited and that Kent would continue his campaign.
