Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas Named Consensus Candidate

In Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas has emerged as the consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election, as announced during a stakeholders' meeting held on Saturday in Jalingo. The meeting, which included various political figures such as serving senators and members of the House of Representatives, aimed to resolve the candidacy position through either direct primaries or a consensus arrangement based on recommendations from a committee.

However, this consensus arrangement has faced criticism, particularly from Chief David Kent, a former Minister of Power, who rejected the process. Kent's media consultant, Ben Adaji, stated that the meeting was convened by the governor rather than the party's leadership, leading to Kent's decision to boycott the process.

Adaji emphasized the need for the party to allow all members to participate freely in the primaries, ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants seeking the governorship ticket.
