Kente Accepts APC Nomination for Taraba Governorship Race

David Sabo Kente, a leading philanthropist in Taraba State, has yielded to pressure from a coalition of APC stakeholders and accepted the nomination to contest for the governorship in the 2027 elections. Initially, Kente had declined offers to run, but overwhelming public demand and a coalition meeting, which took place on April 14-15, 2026, led to his reconsideration.

The coalition, representing 16 local government areas, unanimously endorsed Kente as their preferred candidate. They expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration under Governor Agbu Kefa, criticizing the handling of party affairs and the lack of tangible development in the state.
