Ruto Praises Dangote Refinery During Lagos Visit

Kenyan President William Ruto toured the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos, at the invitation of Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Dangote Group. Ruto commended the refinery as a model for African collaboration among governments, investors, and financial institutions.

He noted the facility's capacity to refine 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily and its production of over 100 million litres of petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. Ruto emphasized the importance of the refinery in strengthening Africa’s industrial capacity and promoting African-led investments.

His visit comes ahead of the groundbreaking for the Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu, Kenya, scheduled for September 30, which is expected to create about 60,000 jobs and enhance Kenya’s energy security. The Lamu project aims to expand Africa's domestic refining capacity and reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.

Ruto's visit underscores the growing economic ties between West and East Africa as businesses pursue investments across the continent.
