Keyamo Discusses BASA Review with Lufthansa Group

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, met with a delegation from the Lufthansa Group in Abuja to discuss strengthening Nigeria-Germany aviation relations. The meeting focused on the review and ratification of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), originally signed in 2010, which is due for updating to reflect current aviation realities.

Alexandra Dietzen-Zill, Senior Manager of Aeropolitical Relations & Traffic Rights at Lufthansa Group, commended Keyamo for reforms in Nigeria’s aviation sector, including the implementation of the Cape Town Convention. The delegation expressed interest in a modernized aviation framework and announced plans to introduce Eurowings, a Lufthansa Group carrier, into the Nigerian market next year, operating Boeing 737-series aircraft.

Keyamo welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Nigerian government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for investment and international airline operations, assuring support for Lufthansa Group's initiatives.
