Kidnappers Abduct Family of Nine in Edo, Demand ₦260 Million Ransom

In Edo state, kidnappers abducted a family of nine, including Festus Bamidel's family members, on the Eko-Abeku-Iyowa road within the Evboneka community in Benin. The victims, including a nursing mother and six children, were taken captive, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of ₦260 million.

The police, specifically the Ekiadolor Division, engaged the abductors in a gun battle, leading to the successful rescue of five victims unharmed. Four other victims were taken away by the kidnappers.

Two suspects were arrested by the police during a patrol along the Auchi-Igarra highway in Edo North. The suspects were identified as members of a vigilant group linked to the kidnapping syndicate.
