Officials Profited from Kidnappings Under Buhari - Omole

Charles Omole alleged during an interview on the "State Affair" podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo that government and security officials made significant profits from kidnappings under Muhammadu Buhari's administration. He claimed that these officials turned insecurity into a "kidnap industry complex," monetizing rampant kidnappings that occurred during this period.

Omole stated that kidnappings became a source of embarrassment for the government, with instances where officials demanded ransoms, such as 500 million naira for the release of kidnapped children. He suggested that only a fraction of the ransom was used for the children's release, with the remainder pocketed by individuals within the system.
