Oyo CP Investigates Police Inspector After Kidnapping Protests

Oyo State Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna has initiated a thorough investigation into the alleged unprofessional conduct of a police inspector in Jobel, Afijio Local Government Area, following protests that disrupted human and vehicular movement on Tuesday. The protests were triggered by a recent kidnapping attempt where a woman narrowly escaped abduction but sustained severe injuries.

The Oyo State Police Command, through a statement by Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanladi, confirmed the investigation and the detention of the inspector pending the outcome. The community has reported at least seven kidnapping incidents recently, leading to heightened security concerns.

Following a violent attack that left a victim severely injured, community members began vigilante patrols. However, outrage ensued when a suspect apprehended by the community was released by the police without explanation.

Residents, including students, have since demanded accountability and improved security measures from relevant authorities, including the Oyo State Government.
