Federal Government Ensures No Fee Hike for King’s College

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, announced that there will be no increase in school fees for King’s College, Lagos, under a new management arrangement involving the King’s College Old Boys’ Association. This assurance was made during a news conference in Abuja, addressing concerns about the proposed agreement.

Alausa explained that the arrangement aims to mobilize additional resources for the school while maintaining federal ownership. He stated that the agreement would be monitored through key performance indicators and that an implementation team would conduct unannounced inspections.

The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, confirmed that no teachers would lose their jobs due to this arrangement and that affected teachers could indicate their preferred redeployment. Ahmad also mentioned that the government is open to dialogue with unions regarding legitimate concerns and has established a committee to review the agreement and include union representatives in monitoring its implementation.
