Union Accuses KCOBA and Police of Attacking Workers

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) alleged that on Tuesday, members of the King’s College Old Boys Association (KCOBA), accompanied by police officers, forcefully took control of the gate at King’s College, Lagos. Unit Chairman Samuel Enang reported that KCOBA members entered through the back gate with a generator and chased away peaceful protesters, including workers and parents.

The confrontation resulted in injuries to several individuals, including Deputy Director Oyedepo, Vice Chairman Musa Oyewoga, and former Secretary Bolanle Olumegbon. Enang also claimed that two Physics teachers, Mr Bashorun and Mr Adesina Emmanuel, were attacked, and a staff member's child was taken by police during the incident.

The ASCSN opposes the proposed concession of King’s College to KCOBA, urging the Federal Government to intervene. Minister of Education Dr Tunji Alausa clarified that the college would not be sold or privatized, as the government would retain legal title while KCOBA would finance its rehabilitation and operation.
