KMT Leader Cheng Li-wun Honors Sun Yat-sen in Beijing

On Saturday, Cheng Li-wun, chairwoman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT), led a delegation to pay tribute to Sun Yat-sen at his cenotaph located at Biyun Temple in the Fragrant Hill area of Beijing. This event commemorated Sun Yat-sen, recognized as a great forerunner of China's democratic revolution, who played a pivotal role in the overthrow of imperial rule in China before his death in 1925.

The cenotaph remains at the temple, while Sun's remains were transferred to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing in 1929. Approximately nine members of the KMT delegation, including three vice chairpersons—Lee Chien-lung, Chang Jung-kung, and Hsiao Hsu-tsen—participated in the tribute, bowing three times in front of a full-length white marble statue of Sun.

The delegation's visit to Beijing was part of a broader trip that included Jiangsu Province and Shanghai, scheduled from Tuesday to Sunday.
