Buratai Calls for Action Against Terror Financiers in Nigeria

In a recent interview, former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen.

Tukur Buratai (retd) lamented the presence of known terror financiers in Nigeria who continue to operate freely within society. He stressed the urgent need for decisive action against these individuals, stating that simply identifying their names is not enough.

Buratai pointed out that there have been no significant steps taken to hold these financiers accountable, particularly in relation to Boko Haram. He emphasized that the military cannot be solely responsible for addressing this issue, indicating that everyone has a role to play in combating terrorism.

Buratai's comments highlight a critical gap in the Nigerian government's approach to tackling terrorism financing, as he noted that even those arrested in connection with Boko Haram have not faced prosecution.
