Kogi State Government Launches N1.5bn Support Initiative

The Kogi State Government is set to implement a N1.5 billion Livelihood Support Grant aimed at benefiting 15,000 residents, with each recipient receiving ₦100,000. Asiwaju Asiru Idris, the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and Chairman of the Kogi State Commissioners’ Forum, announced this initiative while emphasizing the need for grassroots mobilization in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Additionally, a cash transfer program will support 5,000 vulnerable individuals with ₦20,000 monthly for 12 months, totaling ₦1.2 billion. The Labour-Intensive Public Works program will engage 3,400 participants, while 350 communities will benefit from infrastructure projects valued at approximately ₦2 billion.

The agricultural sector will also receive support for 7,350 farmers, with inputs and small farm assets estimated at ₦1.9 billion. The government aims to expand the State Social Register to include over 300,000 poor and vulnerable residents to enhance social intervention program delivery.
