Kogi University Expels Six Students for Exam Misconduct

The Senate of Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba, Kogi State, approved the expulsion of six students for gross examination misconduct after they were found to have rewritten an examination at the residence of Dr. Maji Okpanachi, a lecturer in the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology. This decision was made during the 167th Regular Meeting of the university's Senate on August 26, 2026.

The university management acted on July 1, 2026, following credible information regarding the misconduct, leading to the arrest of Dr. Okpanachi and several students. The security operatives seized evidence from his private residence.

The Examination Misconduct Committee confirmed the allegations, revealing that the students paid N10,000 each to Dr. Okpanachi to rewrite the Course: BOT102 (Introduction to Plant Science). Additionally, the Senate referred Dr. Okpanachi to the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee for appropriate action.
