Kogi University Expels Students for Gay Practices

The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Kogi State expelled two students, Onumoko Hamza from the Biology Education Department and Abdulazeez Eneji from the Mining Engineering Department, for engaging in gay practices. Additionally, four other students—Favor Akowe (Microbiology), Simbiat Babamuharuna (Biology), Zainab Omayoza, and Sukura Bukola (both from Biochemistry)—were rusticated for one academic session due to involvement in a fight on campus.

These disciplinary actions were based on the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and were ratified during the 31st regular meeting of the university’s Senate. The sanctions align with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.

The university emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and a conducive academic environment, urging all students to adhere to institutional regulations.
