Kwankwaso Backs Peter Obi for Nigeria's Unity Ahead of 2027

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, has decided to support Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, as he believes that Nigeria's unity is more important than personal ambitions. This statement was made by Ladipo Johnson, the former spokesman for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), during an interview on Arise Television.

Johnson's remarks come in the wake of recent defections involving two political figures, as Kwankwaso and Obi have both distanced themselves from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in preparation for the 2027 elections. Johnson emphasized that Kwankwaso's support for Obi raises questions among northern politicians about the need for stronger unity among leaders in the region.

He also noted that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are calling for greater cooperation among political leaders to protect their interests and strengthen their voice at the national level.
