Kwankwaso Critiques Nigerian Government on Security Failures

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and a member of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), condemned the Nigerian government for its inadequate response to the rising wave of terrorist attacks in states such as Zamfara, Borno, Sokoto, Katsina, Kwara, and Oyo. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Kwankwaso lamented the unprovoked attacks by terrorists, stating that citizens can no longer sleep peacefully.

He pointed out that banditry, kidnappings, and armed robberies have become daily occurrences, with the situation worsening despite significant budget allocations to the security sector. Kwankwaso called for a decisive leadership approach to confront security challenges, emphasizing the need for urgent reforms and investment in education, healthcare, and infrastructure to address the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty and unemployment.

He urged the government to prioritize the welfare of security personnel and enhance intelligence gathering to effectively tackle the crisis.
