NNPP Denies Involvement of Kwankwaso in Supreme Court Issue, Urges NBA Action

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has officially distanced itself from reports suggesting that its former presidential candidate, Kwankwaso, took the incumbent Kano State Governor, Yusuf, to Supreme Court judges following the 2019 governorship election outcome in the state. In a statement signed by the NNPP National Secretary, the party clarified that Kwankwaso was not a member of the party at the time of the alleged incident.

The NNPP urged the Nigerian Bar Association to remove its name from any petitions related to the matter and emphasized that Kwankwaso joined the party a few months before the 2023 general elections. The party also debunked claims that Kwankwaso was a member of the NNPP and accused the former Kano State Governor of attempting to hijack the party for personal interests.

The NNPP reiterated that Kwankwaso remains expelled from the party and that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating the matter. The party affirmed its legitimate leadership structure under Dr.

Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam as the founder chairman of the board of trustees, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major as the national chairman, and Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday as the national secretary.
