Kwankwaso in Talks to Join ADC as Opposition Gears Up for 2027 Elections

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a prominent Nigerian politician and former Kano State Governor, is reportedly considering joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the opposition gears up for the 2027 general elections. Talks have been held involving Kwankwaso, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The move is seen as a strategic realignment, with indications that a significant portion of Kwankwaso's political structure in Kano State may defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Negotiations also involve the potential defection of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and former NNPP chieftain Habib Hisham to the ADC.
