Kwankwaso's Defection Plans Spark Mixed Reactions

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's planned defection to a new political platform has sparked mixed reactions among his supporters. Members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement have expressed unwavering loyalty to Kwankwaso, regardless of the political party he chooses.

In an interview, Abba Sadauki Gwale emphasized that a coalition with Peter Obi is the best option for the 2027 elections, suggesting that it could provide a credible alternative for Nigerians. However, Mallam Jafar Jafar, a former aide to Kwankwaso, described the move as a gamble, warning that it could lead to significant political fallout.

He noted that the alliance with Obi and the ADC may not be effective, citing concerns about the ADC's leadership and the challenges posed by the APC. Jafar cautioned that without a unified approach, the political landscape would remain unstable, as issues such as corruption and biased electoral processes continue to plague opposition parties.
