Kwankwaso Meets Makinde Amid 2027 Election Speculation

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a prominent political figure and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), met with Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State and a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The meeting took place as part of a courtesy visit, reflecting their long-standing personal friendship and political journey.

Accompanying Kwankwaso were Dr. Ajuji, the national chairman of NNPP, and other senior party officials, including Buba Galadima.

The two-hour closed-door session drew attention due to the growing speculation about potential political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, both Kwankwaso and Makinde dismissed suggestions that the visit aimed at forming a cross-party alliance.

Kwankwaso noted his historical ties to the PDP, having been a member since 1998, and his previous roles, including serving as a minister of defense under a PDP administration and later as governor of Kano State.
