Kwankwaso Supporters Chant Obi's Name at Kano Festival

During the annual Kwankwasiyya Sallah Festival in Kano, supporters of Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), chanted the name of Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party. The event saw attendees wearing the signature red cap of the Kwankwasiyya movement, who repeatedly hailed Kwankwaso as he addressed the crowd.

Obi, who was present at the event along with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, clarified that his visit was not politically motivated but aimed at celebrating Eid el-Fitr and honoring Kwankwaso. He emphasized the need to revive Kano's industrial strength, which once thrived as a manufacturing hub.

The appearance of these politicians has fueled speculation about a possible alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election, although no formal announcement has been made regarding a joint ticket between Obi and Kwankwaso.
