Kwara State Assembly Approves ₦656.5 Billion Budget with ₦10.5 Billion Increase

The Kwara State House of Assembly has granted approval for the 2026 budget totaling ₦656.5 billion, reflecting a ₦10.5 billion increment from the initial proposal. The budget was passed after thorough scrutiny by lawmakers to ensure fiscal realism and alignment with development priorities.

Yakubu Danladi Salihu, disclosed that the approved budget includes an increase in recurrent expenditure to ₦409.6 billion and capital expenditure to ₦271 billion. The adjustments are intended to bolster funding for critical infrastructure projects across Kwara State and expedite priority initiatives under Governor Abdulrazaq's development agenda.

Additionally, the budget allocates ₦14.2 billion for debt servicing in the fiscal year. The House emphasized its commitment to transparent and accountable budget implementation throughout 2026.
