Kwara State Assembly Passes N656.5bn 2026 Budget, Prioritizing Development and Realism

The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved a N656.5 billion budget for 2026, surpassing the initial proposal by N10.5 billion. The budget, submitted by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, was passed following a thorough review to ensure fiscal realism and effective implementation.

Yakubu Danladi Salihu, highlighted the increase in recurrent expenditure to N409.6 billion and capital expenditure allocation to N271 billion, aimed at strengthening infrastructure development projects across the state. The debt service for 2026 is projected at N14.2 billion.

The budget adjustments are intended to fast-track critical projects and enhance service delivery in line with the state's development agenda. The House emphasized the need for realistic implementation to maximize benefits for the people of Kwara State, ensuring prudent public spending and oversight.
