Kwara APC Aspirant Mahmud Backs Seriki for Governor

On Wednesday, Princ Haliru Mahmud announced his decision to step down from the 2027 governorship race in Kwara State, endorsing fellow aspirant Seriki Gambari Mahmud. This announcement was made during a gathering in Ilorin, where Mahmud expressed that his decision was driven by a call for equity, noting that Kwara North has not produced a governor since the return to democracy in 1999.

He emphasized that this lack of representation is unfair and disheartening. Mahmud stated that his decision to withdraw from the race is not self-serving but rather a sacrifice aimed at promoting unity within the APC ahead of the elections.

He described Seriki as a loyal party member and expressed hope that this move would influence political alignment within the party as they prepare for the 2027 governorship elections.
