Kwara APC Aspirants Reject Endorsement of Salihu

Aspirants for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship in Kwara State have voiced their opposition to the planned endorsement of Yakubu Danladi Salihu as the party's candidate for the 2027 elections. They raised concerns about an alleged plot involving traditional rulers to support Salihu's candidacy, which they believe undermines the integrity of the political process.

During a meeting held in Abuja on June 17-18, 2023, the aspirants, including Dr. Bashir Bolarinwa, Senator Salihu Mustapha, and others, dismissed claims of an agreement to support Salihu.

They emphasized that no governorship primary election should be conducted that favors a single candidate and cautioned against dragging traditional rulers into partisan politics. The chairman of the Kwara APC Elder Caucus, Chief Jame Ayeni, reiterated that the party has not published any endorsement for Salihu and called for respect for the traditional institution, urging that it should not be involved in political matters.
