APC Aspirants in Kwara Reject Plot to Coerce Monarchs

Aspirants for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship in Kwara State have raised concerns about a purported scheme to pressure traditional rulers into endorsing Speaker Salihu Mustapha as the party's candidate for the 2027 general elections. During a meeting held from June 17 to June 18 in Abuja, the aspirants, including notable figures such as Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa and Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, expressed their disapproval of any attempts to manipulate traditional institutions for political gain.

They emphasized that the APC has not conducted any gubernatorial primary elections in the state to select a candidate and cautioned against involving traditional rulers in partisan politics. The aspirants called for the dignity and respect of traditional rulers, urging that they should not be dragged into political matters.

They also referenced past instances where traditional rulers were not involved in the nomination processes for APC candidates, reinforcing their stance against the current alleged attempts.
