APC Youths Oppose Yakubu Salihu's Governorship Bid

A youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly rejected the governorship candidacy of Yakubu Salihu, the current Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, for the 2027 elections. During a press briefing at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, the group's leader, Segun Adewara, argued that Salihu's nomination could jeopardize the party's chances in Kwara State, especially as speculation grows about Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq completing his second term.

Adewara emphasized the need for a candidate with broader grassroots appeal to ensure electoral viability. He warned that presenting an unpopular candidate could reverse political gains made by the APC, particularly against the backdrop of the Saraki political dynasty's influence.

The group called for a transparent and inclusive nomination process to produce a credible candidate capable of uniting the party and appealing to voters across all three senatorial districts in Kwara State. They stressed that ignoring the concerns of party members could hinder the APC's success in the 2027 elections.
