Kwara APC Primary Elections to Ensure Transparency, Says Obanikoro

The All Progressives Congress (APC) committee, chaired by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, announced plans for a transparent gubernatorial primary election in Kwara. The primary is set to occur simultaneously across 16 local government areas, with materials distributed for the process.

Obanikoro stated that the committee has concluded arrangements in line with directives from the APC National Headquarters and established party guidelines. Earlier meetings with gubernatorial aspirants at the APC state secretariat in Ilorin addressed concerns ahead of the primary.

The committee aims to ensure inclusivity and transparency, exploring consensus among aspirants, although a complete consensus was not reached. Obanikoro emphasized the committee's commitment to conducting credible elections, despite rising tensions within the Kwara APC following disagreements over candidate selection.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's endorsement of Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as a preferred successor has triggered concerns among other aspirants, leading to accusations against party leadership of attempting to impose candidates, which has deepened political divisions within the party.
