Kwara APC Loses 12 Executives After Senator's Defection

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State experienced a significant setback as 12 executive members from Gambari Ward 1, Ilorin East Local Government Area, resigned from their positions and the party. This mass resignation occurred shortly after Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central in the National Assembly, defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Among those who resigned were the ward chairman, Aliyu Abdulhakeem, and the ward secretary, Abdulwaheed Adanla, who submitted separate resignation letters to the APC leadership on Friday. The remaining ten members of the ward executive submitted a joint resignation letter, which included the ward treasurer, auditor-general, legal adviser, and assistant auditor-general, among others.

Abdulhakeem cited personal reasons for his departure and expressed gratitude to those who supported him during his tenure. Adanla also indicated he had considered his decision before resigning and was prepared to return party materials in his possession.
