Kwara State to Revamp 898 Schools with World Bank Support

Kwara State has initiated a project to revamp 898 public secondary schools with support from the World Bank under the AGILE project, aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and empowering adolescent girls. The announcement was made during a high-level sensitization meeting in Ilorin on Tuesday, where stakeholders were briefed on implementation strategies.

Dr. Lawal Olohungbeb, who leads the engagement initiative, emphasized the alignment of this project with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's educational reform agenda.

The project will involve the mobilization of school-based management committees across the state to oversee renovations. Currently, technical services have been deployed to 111 pilot schools, with 50% of the total contract sum already released to kick off the work.

The first phase will cover 24 schools in Asa Local Government Area, 25 in Ilorin West, 10 in Offa, 16 in Oyun, 18 in Ilorin East, and Ilorin South. This phase will serve as a benchmark for broader rollout across public secondary schools in the state.
