Kwara State Assembly Passes ₦656.5bn 2026 Budget with ₦10.5bn Increase

The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved a ₦656.5 billion budget for 2026, representing a ₦10.5 billion increase from the original proposal by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. The budget was passed after thorough scrutiny to ensure fiscal realism and effective implementation.

The recurrent expenditure was increased to ₦409.6 billion, while capital expenditure was raised to ₦271 billion to fund key infrastructure projects. Speaker Yakubu Danladi Salihu emphasized the need for the budget to align with development priorities and economic realities, focusing on fast-tracking critical projects and enhancing service delivery.

The debt service for 2026 is projected at ₦14.2 billion. The Assembly aims to ensure prudent implementation and public accountability in spending for the benefit of the people of Kwara State.
