Kwara Attacks Show Leadership Failure, Says Ladipo Johnson

Ladipo Johnson, a former public secretary and chieftain of the Nigerian Democrat Congress (NDC), condemned the recent violent attacks in Kwara and Oyo states, describing them as evidence of the current administration's failure to maintain security. He specifically referenced the assault on the Yashikira Emir's palace and the abduction of ten individuals, occurring just 48 hours after another attack in Ekiti where three worshippers were murdered and fifteen were kidnapped during a church vigil.

Johnson stated that these incidents highlight a collapse of the security system, warning that insecurity is causing severe economic paralysis, with food prices in Oyingbo market rising by 150 percent and logistics costs increasing by 30 to 40 percent due to supply chain disruptions. He criticized the government's ineptitude, asserting that the average Nigerian is caught in a deadly game of survival, and emphasized the need for political will to restore security, referencing the leadership of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as examples of capable governance.
