Kwara State Validates Health Promotion Implementation Plan

The Kwara State Government has commenced the validation of a costed implementation plan for its Health Promotion and Communication Strategic Framework. This initiative, led by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, aims to improve health communication and promote healthier behaviors among residents.

During a stakeholder validation meeting, El-Imam, represented by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Taoheed Abdullahi, emphasized that the plan would serve as a roadmap to translate health promotion priorities into actionable activities with defined responsibilities, timelines, and funding needs. The plan seeks to harmonize existing health promotion initiatives and reduce duplication of efforts.

El-Imam stressed the importance of institutional ownership, resource mobilization, and collaboration among various stakeholders, including government agencies, local authorities, and civil society organizations. Dr. Usman Muhammad from UNICEF commended the collaborative efforts and highlighted the role of the World Health Organisation as the implementing partner, urging stakeholders to address any gaps in the document to ensure successful implementation.
